Is March the Month that Comes in Like a Lamb?
It's Sunday night before another busy week so I thought I'd take just a second to say "hi" and give a quick update on what's happening here...
I've decided to step up my participation in the planning and preparation process for the Commitment Ceremony scheduled to help kick off Pride Week at Penn State at the end of this month. As part of my contribution, I'll be contacting and trying to gain support from various faith-based organizations in the community. I'll also be helping with the advertising end of things as well as whatever else I can lend myself to... and those things may increase as this event is starting to gain national attention. I'd appreciate all the prayers I can get during this process and I'll keep updating as things develop.
I'm also lending my energy to the rest of the Pride Week planning including a couple of events that involve The AIDS Project and much of the publicity and design aspects. It's enough to keep me running around like a madman but I love it and I'm really glad for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause!
I'm still volunteering at The AIDS Project and I've officially graduated to HIV Test Counselor status. I began the training process back in November of last year and after sitting in on a number of counseling sessions and then having someone sit in on a few of my counseling sessions I've been given the go-ahead to start counseling on my own. It's a great privilege and I feel like I'm making a real contribution to the health and welfare of the community. Wherever I go after this, I know this is an experience I'd like to try to continue to pursue.
Finally, I'm still doing the freelance art (this is how the bills get paid!). God's been faithful by providing work to keep me afloat and strengthen my skills while still giving me the freedom to pursue all of the other things that attract my heart. I'm really blessed to be in the position I'm in right now and I'm grateful for the daily provisions.
Thanks to everyone who continue to pray for me and the work that God's called me to. I'm learning daily what it means to follow such an expansive God and the more I learn the more I realize I have so much more to learn. I don't know what lies ahead but I trust that He's got it taken care of and the adventure's just beginning.
Peace of Christ...
K.
