While I Have a Minute to Catch My Breath...
Tonight is "Hell Night" for my part of Penn State Pride Week 2008. I've been working on the graphic design aspect and tomorrow is the final deadline for a lot of the work I've been doing on posters/flyers/etc so naturally this is the night that everyone comes up with last minute changes and modifications. I don't really mind though since I expected it... and the silver lining is that by tomorrow at this time it will be too late for most changes. My job will be done... until next time...
It's nice to have this to work on right now while I continue the process of trying to find work. Freelance jobs have gotten thin the last week and a half and as I look at the bank account I'm scrambling to try to find more to do. My granny's first husband was a freelance artist and she would comment on how it was feast or famine with his work - well I've been doing the famine for a little while now so I'm looking forward to the feast!
Another way I'm keeping busy is by pulling my sketchbook out. I'd gotten out of practice for awhile but lately I've been trying to be more diligent about doodling and sketching whenever I can. Some days it's not very often but every opportunity helps. I continue to keep my skills honed and maybe my portfolio will grow!
I'd been meaning to post an entry on here with artwork in it, but I've had so many things on my mind lately that I've either been too busy to blog or I've needed to get some of those things off my chest... finally I've got a quiet evening with a couple of free minutes so I'm attaching a drawing I did on Sunday while sitting with the cats next door.

My goal is to turn this sketch into finished artwork... and I'll update with my progress on here! I really have no idea how long it will take since at this point I'm not even sure what I want to do with it - and I don't know when I'll suddenly come into some work that needs my attention. But keep checking back and hopefully I'll have something to show before long. (And feel free to offer suggestions about what you think I should do with it.)
Oh yeah - and leave some comments! I know you're out there... I can hear you breathing!
