Thanks for the Birthday Greetings
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make my birthday this year so great... whether it was an online birthday greeting, a phone call, a card or just well wishes in person, it was nice to be remembered and feel special. I made the comment a couple of times that I'm not so great at celebrating my own birthday, but I love to celebrate others' birthdays so I guess if I expect them to give me that pleasure it's only fair that I return the favor.
I commemorated the day by finishing up the application for the tax id number that will make Affirmation a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Basically, once I have this number, I'll be able to start applying for grants, I will be a tax write off for people who want to make donations to support the ministry, and I'll be tax exempt when making purchases to further the ministry's work. I've learned so much through this process and I'm grateful for the people who've taken the time to read drafts and answer questions... or just put up with my endless ramblings. It's clear to me that I'm not doing this alone and when the ministry's finally up and running I look forward to sharing the blessings with so many people.
I've been able to submit the application to someone who has experience applying for tax id numbers and she's going to look it over and make sure everything looks alright before I finally submit it to the IRS. I'm welcoming prayers through this process as it will be quite a job and financial loss if I have to re-apply... it will be so good if this is approved the first time out - and at this point I don't have any reason to think it won't...
