A Variation
I wanted to post a blog entry yesterday about something I heard/saw on my friend Sunny's blog... she gives new meaning to the idea of "counting your blessings."

You see, she and her husband have been facing some challenges lately that have left them feeling a little overwhelmed (I can relate to that!) and someone suggested to her that when faced with something unfortunate, she should count her blessings. It sounds a little Julie Andrews to me and I can't help wondering how raindrops on roses will help me find a job!
But here's where the twist comes: when counting blessings, you should count things that you're hoping for as though they've already happened!
Hmmm...
It's strangely logical if you think about it. Counting blessings is like thanking God, and if you're counting a blessing-yet-to-come you're still pretty much thanking God. Instead of wallowing in the midst of depression and begging God to give you hope, you're focusing on His gifts and you're speaking in faith about what you know He'll provide (honestly, I know He's got this one under control) - that brings peace and the ability to focus on things that you have direct influence on...
Too often we focus on the places we lack when we come before God - if we even have the strength to come before God. I imagine God-time could be more productive if we have an attitude of thanks. So that's what I'll be doing - thanking God for the job He's given me... and let me tell you, it's a great one!
On an other note... going along with the title of this entry, I've done a variation of the illustration I posted yesterday. What do you think?

Hey now I'm famous! I do love comments and realize now what an injustice I've been doing to all my friends whose blogs I've been faithfully enjoying! So here you go.
You summed it up beautifully. I know God gives us the desires of our hearts!
I love the variation. Did you do that in photoshop? Is it proper blog etiquette to ask questions? There I go again!

Um... I'm not sure if it is appropriate or not, but I've never been a great stickler for the rules... of course, I don't know if you'll actually get this response (unless you happen to stumble on it here)...
Anyway, in answer to your question - yes, I did do modifications in photoshop. It's still not exactly right, but I was inspired to make these changes after looking at someone else's online portfolio. I liked what he had and I thought I'd experiment to see what I could come up with.
Thanks for the inspiration for this entry and thanks for reading my blog... love you!
