One Evening at Starbucks...

In an effort to be more productive (in a lot of ways) I decided to go downtown and hang out at Starbucks for a couple of hours tonight.  The primary reason for going was that I needed to do some drawing and I tend to be more inspired when I'm around other people - they're often fun to watch and will do things that I wouldn't have thought of on my own.  Tonight was no exception.  The following is a cartoon I did based on a very animated fella who came in to the store to see some friends:

Nothing made up... really...

He actually went on with a lot more quotable lines, but I couldn't very well keep track of all of them and get the drawing done, too.  What made this a little more awkward was the fact that he had an interest in talking to me.  I should point out that this is the first time I've ever drawing a person for one of these sketch cartoons while they were sitting right there.  Normally I have no problem talking to strangers and this guy was no exception - except that I didn't want him to see what I was drawing...  I had another book of illustrations he could look at and I was able to distract him with that.

I was able to get some actual work done, too, though I'm still not quite content with what I did and I've probably got a few more hours of sketching/drawing to do before I'll have something I think looks right... but the process is part of the fun!
