Hello 2009!
It's the start of a new year and I've been challenged to come up with New Years Resolutions. Part of me resists because if these things were so easy for me to incorporate into my life they'd be there already... and I don't need the feeling that comes with realizing I've failed at a goal - or the procrastination. Still, I do like the idea of setting goals and this time of year seems conducive to that end. Plus, if I publish my goals here, there will be witnesses who can hold me accountable after today. Really... hold me accountable.
I've been thinking about it for a few days (at least as long as it's been since my friend Mark challenged me to have some) and despite being told I should have my list done by December 31, I've actually completed the following today. I don't claim the list is exhaustive (there are a few goals that are more personal) but here's my Goals (aka New Years Resolutions) for 2009:
• I want to read the Bible daily. It's embarrassing to say, but since I finished doing the reading I was doing with my accountability partners, my time in scripture has been hit-or-miss. I know from experience the value to be found in reading from the Bible daily and there's evidence that I'm missing it in my daily living, so I intend to get back on task with that.• I want to spend ten minutes a day cleaning my apartment. It's a little place, and if I really did that, it would be clean in no time... and keeping it clean would then be a breeze!• I want to write 150 blog entries this year (I actually borrowed this one from another blog). In the previous year I actually posted 140 entries so this isn't really that much of a stretch - I should probably try for something more ambitious, but I'll wait to see if people are actually reading first!• I want to do my part for the environment. I've actually already touched on this one in previous entries but this year I intend to make a lot of changes. I'll be modifying my diet in an effort to eat more healthy and minimize the damage being done to the planet just to put food on my plate. I've already been very conscious of my carbon footprint for awhile now, but this year I intend to (mostly) retire my car and replace it with a bicycle. Plans are already underway for me to have a bike to ride in the next couple of months so that when the weather is nice enough, that will be my new mode of transportation. Finally, I want to appreciate what natural beauty we still have. I'd like to make a point of going places where I can see God's handiwork in the midst of the busyness of the world - anyone care to join me?• I want to start playing my violin on a regular basis. This one has been nagging at me for some time but I've still been lazy... guess I'll have to do something about that!• I want to get married (I borrowed this one from another blog, too). Okay, so this goal might be beyond my control at the moment - particularly since I'm still single and it's not legal for me to marry someone I'm attracted to... but maybe this will be the year that those things will change! I have my fingers crossed!!
Okay, that's my list. I'm sure I'll think of new things to add to it and I reserve the right to modify as necessary, but I welcome any and all to hold me to it and ask regularly about my progress... Happy New Year!

I think this is an awesome New Year's Resolution list! I have yet to come up with mine, so you've inspired me. Really enjoyed looking through your work on your website, very cool. The Queen of Hearts on the sets for Alice in Wonderland look amazing. Thanks so much for volunteering your time and talent with YAT! I will send pictures soon. Take care!

Angie... I was glad to help out - by now I've posted an entry showing the painting that was done and including a link to the web site. I look forward to seeing you there!
And keep me posted on your Resolution list...
