Playing With the Queen of Hearts
I was invited to lend my painting talents to the set design for a local production of Alice in Wonderland by the Young Actor's Theatre. The play is set in the modern day and the set is a city street with card-themed influences. I thought I was going to be going to paint flat shapes but when I got there they raised the challenge: could I paint the queen of hearts on a building?

I've never done it before, but I didn't want that to stop me. Here's what I came up with:

It's supposed to look like the queen had been spray painted on the side of a building... I guess I got pretty good practice doing the painting for my brother because I'm pretty pleased with how she turned out.
If you're in the Indy area and you want to see the queen for yourself, you can check out one of the productions of "Alice in Wonderland." Shows will be January 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7:30 pm at the American Cabaret Theatre. If you're going, let me know... I'm planning to attend myself at some point!
