Back in Indy with the Lights Off
I've not posted anything for a few days - partly because I've been so busy, first with seeing people in State College, driving home, and then with all the catching up I've had to do since I've been back...
A quick recap of my visit to State College: the purpose for choosing to go this particular weekend was that the SAE (Student AIDS Educators) students that I used to help advise were having a fundraiser to support The AIDS Project, an organization dear to my heart. Unfortunately, the weather had different plans and a blizzard overtook State College Friday night and Saturday morning. By noon on Saturday, the fundraiser was cancelled and the purpose of my visit modified... now I was there to visit friends - and safely make my way back to Indiana. I'm happy to report I was successful in completing my amended agenda. I saw a lot of the people I've missed since my last visit and I made it safely back to my apartment... earlier than expected!
The couple of days since returning have been consumed with catching up on missed work and fulfilling obligations I'd created before I left. I'm still missing out on a few things, but overall I'm settling back into a familiar routine and I'm glad to be in my bed again at night...
I've also had a lot on my mind. Much of it is not something I can put language to at the moment - but I'm confident that when the season changes, I'll have a story to tell... God's working on something in me and I'm planning to take a day soon that I can spend with Him, sorting it out and learning how He would have me grow. Keep me in your prayers, that I would have the wisdom and perception to find and follow the leading. Prayers are being answered left and right these days and I'll post when these ones are answered, too!
To bring you completely up to speed, I'm typing this entry from Starbucks where I've been forced to find sanctuary when I arrived home to no electricity. Not only was my apartment powerless, but so were the blocks from 34th through 38th Street! I had no heat to cook by and no light to change my clothes by, so I piled back into my car and came here. It wasn't all a loss - my community is here and I got to enjoy my blueberry coffee cake dinner with friends... a happy ending to a busy day...
