Hiking, Hiking, Hiking
Today was a great day because it was the first day in a very long time - a year or so* - that I've gotten the chance to go hiking!

*I don't really know how long it's been, but 'a year or so' feels right. I posted about it somewhere - either here or on facebook - but I'm too lazy to actually do the research to verify my claim... you'll have to either take my word for it or track down said post and prove me wrong! I can tell you that the hike in question was with Jeffrey... or was it Maggie... see - it's been awhile!
Why has it been so long? Well, the long and the short of it is that my car hasn't been the same since maneuvering the streets of Indianapolis in the January snow** and now it can't go too far or too fast without the nasty side effect of smoke coming from under the hood***. Because of this, I've been limited on my long distance excursions until I've been able to find someone who wanted to join/take me... this was such a time.
**That one I know - it was January 28. I posted a blog entry that you can double check for that one!
***Yes, Mom, I do intend to get it looked at. Actually, I've been intending to get it looked at for the last few months since I realized the 'smoking issue.' I just need to find the time now!
The morning started earlier than I might have liked (6:30 - just like a regular work day!), but I'm a morning person so I made it work (no pun intended). I was showered, breakfast-ed, and dressed so that by 9:30 Adam, Jeremy and I were on our way to Brown County State Park.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect... not too hot and not too rainy****. We'd intended to do the 3.5 mile trail but ultimately gave up the map and decided to follow our noses - it ended up being something like a five mile treck and by the time we were done we were exhausted! We also determined that the park's mascot was the daddy long legs spider - LOTS of those!
****Another nice thing was that there weren't a lot of other people hiking today - surprising because the day was so nice... there were a lot of people biking, though. Jeremy said he intends to come back and do some mountain biking - I'm not sure when his return trip is going to be, but I might be game to join him.
Here's a picture of us when we were in the final stretch. At this point we've become sweaty, sore, and smelly (not necessarily - but it starts with an 's')... but still smiling! (another 's'!)

Hopefully I'll be taking hiking again before another year passes... but in case I don't, I'm SO glad for the chance I had today! Thanks guys!

I am a writer too. I had a distinct idea about writing a similar post but I think I am still very far from perfection.
