Welcome Winter
I'd heard yesterday that we were expecting some hefty snow* over the course of the night so I decided to play it safe and bring what I could home so I'd be able to work from there. After all, what's the point of working from a laptop if I'm not going to take advantage of the occasional snow day?
*The prediction was for up to 7" before morning - not exactly a blizzard, but enough to slow things down.
I woke this morning to find that there wasn't as much accumulation as I'd expected - but since it was snowing I decided to go with the original plan and stay home. I did my morning reading and the dishes and I was just settling in with my breakfast and the internet when I found my laptop having a hard time connecting. This isn't anything new at my apartment, so I restarted and tried again.
Nothing.
I decided to give it time and watch a dvd, trying repeatedly to connect over the next 45 minutes. When the dvd was done, I went to rinse my dishes only to find I had no water.
...
I called my building manager to learn that they'd found a leak and they were in the process of repairing it - my water should be on soon... and it turns out the leak was right over the internet router so that would also need to be fixed. It was a comedy of errors and thankfully I had nothing urgent to do. I eventually bundled up, want out into the snow (which had accumulated more since this morning) and made my way to Henry's, where I'm sitting now.
Despite the inconvenience, I'm enjoying the snow and I'll try to post a picture this evening - if I can get the internet working at home again.
If not, I'll see you tomorrow at Henry's!
