AIDSWalk... Miami Style
One of the first things I wanted to do when I got to Florida was locate a local AIDS Service Organization that I can start volunteering at. Well, my timing couldn't have been better as the AIDSWalk Miami is coming up on April 17 and I'm registered and ready to go!
Those who know me know HIV/AIDS is a cause close to my heart as I work to support education and fund research to treat and eventually find a cure for this disease. I've been actively volunteering within the community for over four years and my interest in the issues and people affected goes back even farther than that.
It seems like it was just a few months ago that I was gearing up for the AIDSWalk... and it was. The Indianapolis AIDSWalk takes place in October and I was able to exceed my goal and my team raised over $500 for the cause! This time I'm going for he same goal, but I'm going to try to do it in less time... that means I'm trying to find a team and contacting all of my friends for support.
