Happy Birthday to Me

It's only three days late, but that's just an indication of how busy I've been since my birthday...

My birthday celebration actually started Friday night with dinner on the pier.  The first time I came to Hollywood, I was treated to a delicious seafood dinner on the pier and it was a meal I've dreamed about since then*... for my birthday, I was able to re-visit that delicious meal.  Okay, it wasn't quite as amazing as I remembered it, but it was still tasty and complimented nicely by the warm breeze, the gorgeous view, and the company.  Nuff said.
*Really!  Just ask my students or anyone in Indianapolis who I talked to about Florida - the food (and that meal specifically) was something I repeatedly highlighted!
Saturday was the big day (it's always nice to have a birthday on the weekend) and it started with homemade banana and granola pancakes!  On Friday night we'd planned to watch the first Iron Man movie, but it got too late and we were too tired so we rescheduled those plans for Saturday morning.  By early afternoon we had a movie and lunch under our belts and we made our way to South Beach.

I spent the rest of the day with Steve, James, and Brian.  We walked to the un-discovered fresh food market** and then made our way to a little Italian restaurant a short way from Lincoln Road.  It was a leisurely meal with a lot of reminiscing (thanks James!) and then we were off to see Iron Man 2 (hence the need to watch the first movie in the morning)...
**Un-discovered by us - rumor has it there's actually one there, but we weren't able to find it.  Funny thing is that everyone we asked in South Beach had also never heard about it - it's the Holy Grail of markets!
All in all, it was a great day!  I got a few phone calls from well-wishers and 79 facebook messages from people - just catching up on those took almost a half hour!

Thank you to everyone who made my day so special... I'll try to post pics if I can.  Until then, back to the drawing board... literally!
