Pass Me the Dry Erase Board
From time to time I see people post jobs looking for vector artists who can create interiors or group images. While I know I can do it, my portfolio doesn't really demonstrate that (since most of my vector work is simply an individual in empty space) and that was my project for yesterday night and today: To create a vector image featuring a complete interior space.
I sat down to do some sketches yesterday, hoping I'd get inspired about what the space should look like and what the person/people should be doing. I came up with nothing so I logged onto facebook to see what was happening there - and inspiration struck!
There's a web site that's getting a lot of attention right now and it features a girl quitting her job via dry erase boards. Not only do I think the entire situation is handled brilliantly, but I found the girl to be incredibly expressive. Her eyes pulled me in but her lips sealed the deal and I knew how I was going to handle my vector interior image.
A few hours later*, and this is what I came up with:
*Yes, it was a few hours later because I started it last night but got tired before I was even able to finish putting her together, much less the background. Combined with a light workload this morning, it took me a little longer than I'd hoped it would.

Oh, and in case you didn't get a chance to see it yourself, here's the link to the web site that inspired this illustration: CLICK HERE**.
**And don't bother telling me I'm missing elements from her room in my interior - I know, and I don't miss them...
I'm still waiting for someone to name my model from yesterday's blog entry, too!
