So Begins September
It's September, and as one of my friends posted on facebook today: "It's the first day of the first fall month." I'm not sure what kind of fall I'll actually be enjoying this year (and since it's my favorite season I'm sure I'll be missing it), but at least I got to have a little taste of it last week when we were in Indianapolis. No, the leaves weren't changing color and we didn't have any apple cider, but it was chilly in the mornings and I wore a sweatshirt most days... so this year that will have to qualify*!
*Of course the rainy season is just getting started - or so I've been told. There's nothing like a rainy day when I'm sitting inside sipping chai or hot chocolate to make it feel like fall.
One more thing about September - this September anyway - is that one of my clients has been accepted to participate in the Pepsi Refresh Project. Basically, non-profits from all over compete for cash prizes to get their projects off the ground, and they win by getting the most votes from people who visit the site. My client is Chrysalis Environmental Solutions and they're trying to start and Adopt a Zeedle program to help educate kids (and adults) about the dangers of incorrectly discarding used needles and expired medication. I think it would be a worthy cause even if I wasn't connected with it, but if they get the most votes, they will be able to launch the program in a big way and I'll be joining them as their illustrator.
