Heathcliff, It's Me, Cathy...

Though it wasn't planned, today turned into a day at Florida Atlantic University where we cultured it up with the symphony and an art exhibit.

First, we saw the FAU Symphony Orchestra present "From the New World" - originally I felt like I was going along for the ride but I enjoyed it very much.  I got some ideas for a potential series of drawings featuring musicians and I was inspired to pick up my violin again... er, after I get it tuned...

Then we had time to catch the "10 to the Power of 10" and "Out of the Book" visual arts exhibits.  I saw some great prints on handmade papers, a few interesting typography projects, and an exhibit of watercolor and ink illustrations that incorporated fabric.  I'm still working on the pieces that I'll be showing in my own exhibit next month so I'm looking for ideas and inspiration everywhere I go... maybe I got something today?!?

In other news, I just finished reading Wuthering Heights* - I'm still processing the book so I'm not sure what to say about it right now.  I know that I enjoyed it, but it wasn't at all what I expected and there were many elements that I couldn't have predicted.  I recommend it for anyone who's looking for a book that will serve as a lengthy distraction... and if you decide to read it, feel free to translate Joseph's speech for me!
*Another great novel that I probably should have read at some point in my life before now but it just never happened.  It's not the only one I missed but at least I'm trying to catch up!
It's a good October so far!
